Canoe Club

Interested in the outdoors and canoeing?

In June of 2009, under the expert guidance of Murray Matheson, a small group of like minded, energetic seniors from the Guelph Wellington Seniors Association banded together to form a fledgling Canoe Club.

The summer of 2009 saw this small group spend about two hours every Thursday morning on one of the local rivers within a 45 minute drive of Guelph, in surprisingly wild areas so close, enjoying the benefits of time in the outdoors rejuvenating body and soul.

The Evergreen Seniors Canoe Club of the GWSA has now applied, (through GWSA), for government funding to assist us in purchasing Canoes, Life Jackets and Paddles along with a Canoe Trailer for transport. It is the intention of the approximately a dozen original members to encourage anyone who has, or would like, canoe experience to come forward and enjoy this exciting and restful outdoor activity.

We intend on organizing training sessions and social and fund raising events over the winter months and will be on the water again in early spring just as soon as weather and water conditions permit.
