Caring and trained senior volunteers helping to connect other seniors to services

Are you or someone you know trying to find services to help you remain independent and healthy?

Do you or someone you know want to continue living at home as long as possible?

Do you have questions about the types of services that are available to help you remain living independently?

If so, contact the Make Yourself at Home Program. Senior volunteers will provide a home visit to assist with locating and connecting you to the community supports available to meet your needs. The visit is a free service funded by the Waterloo Wellington Local Health Inetgration Network (WWLHIN)

Make Yourself at Home (MYAH) - An exciting new initiative of the Guelph Wellington Seniors Association that assists seniors to successfully age in their own homes by connecting them with appropriate community resources through peer support. This is a not-for-profit service supporting wellness and healthy aging.

Services Include:

  • Make Yourself at Home - a peer advocate support program. Caring, volunteers provide a home visit and assist with connecting seniors to community supports. A free MYAH Service
  • Feeling Better Eat Well - a wide variety of programs including: Diabetes Support Group, Nutritional Counseling, Food Tastings, Education, Information Displays and Garden Fresh Box. Costs vary
  • Feeling Better Move Well - offers:
    In-home Exercise - weekly visits by trained volunteers provide gentle, progressive exercise.

    Group Exercise - beginner level fitness classes led by qualified volunteer instructors. Available in various locations in Guelph.
    Costs vary.

  • Seniors Offering Support - a telephone support line and information service operated by a team of senior volunteers who listen and help with aging challenges and health concerns. A free MYAH service
  • Outreach - Enjoy a social outing to participate in wellness activities, meet new friends and have a hot meal. Drives to and from home are provided. Takes place at the Evergreen Seniors Centre and Norfolk Street United Church. Fee $5.00
